In CPL 2024 the numbers tell a very clear story about why St Lucia Kings lifted the trophy and why Guyana Amazon Warriors joined them in the final. Both sides dominated the most important parameter in T20 cricket which is strike rate.

On the bowling side Guyana had the best strike rate at 15.3 balls per wicket while St Lucia followed with 16.82. This ability to take wickets quickly meant both teams kept opponents under pressure and rarely allowed long partnerships to develop.

With the bat St Lucia led the charts with a strike rate of 141.41 while Guyana was right behind at 141.18. Scoring at this pace meant that even when wickets fell they continued to keep the scoreboard moving and never let the opposition bowlers settle.
Trinbago Knight Riders also showed strength with the bat scoring at a strike rate of 141.15 and that helped them finish third. However their bowling strike rate was not as sharp as St Lucia and Guyana which made the crucial difference at the business end of the tournament.
The lesson from CPL 2024 is simple. The teams that score quickly and take wickets regularly end up competing for the title. Strike rate decides the rhythm of a T20 game and the champions mastered it on both fronts.
